The Performing Arts Series at UUCM offers concerts, musical events and church variety shows to the congregation and the entire local community.

Jon Dee Graham (featuring Bonnie Whitmore)

jdgJon Dee Graham is a guitarist and songwriter from Austin, Texas.  He is the only musician ever to be inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame three times.  He has recorded 11 albums and is working on the 12th.  His songs have been recorded by many artists including Patty Smythe, Patty Griffin and James McMurtry.

She brings to every show a veracity of honest emotion and vulnerability that almost hurts you in its beauty. Her voice is a powerful one and will command your attention. Also, she is the only known human jukebox to date!

THE MINNETONKA CIVIC ORCHESTRA

The Minnetonka Civic Orchestra, a chamber-size ensemble, offers members a musical community in which to play their instrument, perform and have fun. The group plays repertoire ranging from light overtures like Bizet’s “Carmen” to full classical symphonies by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. Members enjoy being challenged by the music in a relaxed and supportive rehearsal environment. Free performances around the Twin Cities southwest metro area provide satisfying opportunities to showcase great music while giving back to the community.  It is part of the Music Association of Minnetonka (M.A.M.). This concert is FREE, family friendly, and open to the public.

MINNETONKA YOUTH CHOIRS
Minnetonka Youth ChoirThe Music Association of Minnetonka (M.A.M.) partners with the City of Minnetonka to offer high-quality musical programming to youth in Minnetonka and the Twin Cities metro area. The youth choir program provides learning and performance opportunities for children in grades K-5. DaCapo Choir is offered for youth in grades kindergarten through first and Minnetonka Youth Choir is offered for children in grades second through fifth. This concert is FREE, family friendly, and open to the public.

ROY ZIMMERMAN: RiZe Up Tour

What can one person do about racism, gun violence, climate change, income inequality, bigotry, ignorance, war and greed? “Write funny songs,” says Roy Zimmerman. Over twenty years on stages, screens and airwaves across America, Roy has brought the sting of satire to the struggle for Peace and Justice. His songs have been heard on HBO and Showtime. He has recorded for Warner/Reprise Records.  “Sometimes I think satire is the most hopeful form of expression,” says Roy, “because in calling out the world’s absurdities and laughing in their face, I’m affirming the real possibility for change.” Tickets $20 each. CONNIE EVINGSON & ANDREW WALESCH JAZZ PERFORMANCE

Singer and pianist Andrew Walesch is a new and compelling voice on the national jazz scene. Whether recording jingles, producing shows, composing and arranging or singing as a solo artist with big bands all over the country, Andrew is know for his unique approach to the The Great American Songbook. Jazz vocalist Connie Evingson is known for taking divergent musical paths. Her recorded catalog of acclaimed CD’s ranging from jazz and Broadway standards to the music of Peggy Lee, the Beatles and more! UUCM welcomes Delphia Cello Quartet, an all-female ensemble based in Minneapolis. The group plays original arrangements from a wide range of repertoire, including Bach, Broadway, Elvis, Prince, Beyonce, and more. The four cellists, Rachelle LaNae Smith, Rosa Thompson-Vieira, Katherine Canon, and Julia Floberg, came together out of a desire to play fun music with other female musicians. Though they play all sorts of music, they especially enjoy featuring female artists in their repertoire.  Tickets available after Sunday service, on Eventbrite and at the door, $15 each. Ellis’ performances are transformational; she leaves her audiences better than she finds them, with softened edges and opened hearts.  A gifted songwriter and performer, Ellis is known for her stirring lyrics, open- hearted performances and contagious laughter. She got her start at coffee shops and now tours the folk circuit with nine albums to her credit. She has been a four-time guest on A Prairie Home Companion, and Ellis has won more than a dozen songwriting and live performance awards.
