Big Book Study and Action Group Starting September 8

7:00 to 8:30 PM weekly meeting starting Sunday, September 8 through December 15, 2019. Click here to view Big Book Study and Action Group flyer.

This is not your typical “thanks for sharing” kind of Twelve Step meeting, nor is it like any seminar. Participants are asked to DO all Twelve Steps as laid out in our basic textbook. Don’t attend Study and Action if you want to learn something ~ come if you want to do something! Each of the guides has done the Twelve Steps and coached others. They will coach you through the instructions in our basic textbook, Alcoholics Anonymous. They will use a dictionary published at about the same time as the book to help us better understand the directions as they were written by the first 100 men and women. Though we read and study the AA “Big Book”, this group is not limited to members of AA. Members of Al-Anon, NA, CA, GA, EA, OA and SAA frequently attend.

Participating in Study & Action will make you a better sponsor or “step coach”. You will be able to coach people through the Twelve Steps exactly as given to us by those who have gone before, unfettered and unchanged. In addition to being a “boot camp” for sponsors, we also believe Study & Action is especially valuable to those who have been through treatment or rehab and have been left off at Step Three or Step Five or are participating in Court programs that require sobriety. We get sober by the Steps we take, not the meetings we make.

The Minnetonka, MN Sessions will begin on Sunday September 8, 2019 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Minnetonka 2030 Wayzata Blvd East, on the Wayzata-Minnetonka border from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. This location is directly across US Hwy 12 from Wayzata Village Chevrolet. Ample parking is available. Guides for this session will be Dick C. & Mary C. and Bucky M. This session will meet weekly for approximately 14 to 16 weeks (we will be done before the December holiday season).

Pre-Registration is not required but seating will be limited to about 50 people. We recommend that you bring a fourth edition of the basic textbook Alcoholics Anonymous, a tablet of paper, pen and highlighter. There are no fees for these sessions, we will ask for a voluntary contribution to pay for space rental, photocopies and other expenses.
