The UU Families Initiative (UUFI) is a group of parents working to create common practices within our community for raising our children in the Unitarian Universalist tradition. These rituals can be shared between parents, grandparents, family and friends. We will be offering a brief introduction during our worship service on Jan. 8, followed by four workshops during 2023.
Pancake Breakfast Mealtime Ritual
Sunday, January 22 from 8:30-10 AM
One of the most beloved traditions takes place at mealtime, so we would like to invite families with children in our birth to 5th grade classrooms (and their families) to a pancake breakfast on Jan. 22. While parents learn about the ritual and hear from other families who have made it a part of their lives, children will make their own chalices and booklets with popular chalice lighting words to take home. Families will then come back together to practice the ritual at the end of the workshop as they delight in a stack of pancakes. This is a great way to meet other UUCM families who are part of your community and help your children make deeper connections to classmates in RE. Bonus – Kids can come in their pajamas so everyone can get out the door easier!
