Important UUCM Auction Updates
Auction donations are due by midnight this Sunday, October 25! Use this donation form. The Zoom Live Auction is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at 6:30pm. Read all about the exciting entertainment, which includes an original Jeffrey Hatcher play, here. The online Silent Auction will begin on October 30, but the auction site is now available at http://charityauction.bid/uucm2020. There you can get the latest auction news, view the catalog, and complete the one-time registration if you are planning to bid on items. Questions? Email Karen or Fred Hulting.
THIS SUNDAY, October 25 After Church
Karen and Fred Hulting are hosting an information session on Sunday at 11:15am to answer your questions about the Auction coming up in November. Curious how we are going to do it online? Have an idea for a donation, but not sure how to make it “COVID-safe”? Want to be reassured that Marc Doepner-Hove will be the auctioneer? Come to the session and learn all about the new twists on an old tradition! Check you Friday Update for the Zoom link and contact Fred or Karen with any questions.
Or, at least the greatest virtual live auction that UUCM has ever seen!
If the auction is your favorite social event of the year, you won’t want to miss this one—we’re keeping as much of the tradition and nostalgia as we can. Marc Doepner-Hove as auctioneer? We’ve got that! The Hultings working hard behind the scenes to keep track of everything? We’ve got that! Amazing social events to bid on hosted by our very own members and friends? You guessed it—we’ve got it! People bidding against themselves? Negotiations for how many extra seats the host can accommodate? Costumes? Laughter? We’ll have all that, too, if you come and participate!
If you’ve never attended the auction and can’t imagine why you’d want to, you won’t want to miss this one—it’s new, it’s different, it’s not JUST an auction! It’s a Maskerade party with entertainment! Sarah Huckabee Sanders (aka the fabulous MaryAnn Wiborg) will be stopping by with important Public Service Announcements that you won’t want to miss. Our very own funny-men and stand-up comics (Noel Martinson and Bill Arnold) will take the stage to keep you laughing. Sam Brandt and Brian Zais are teaming up to bring you some pandemic-appropriate jazz. Jeffrey Hatcher and a great cast of 9 crowd favorites and talented newcomers will be putting on a serial skit to keep you on the edge of your seats throughout the entire event. And, finally, if you’re worried about staying awake through another Zoom meeting, we’ve got some interactive plans to keep your hands and mouth busy, too—watch your mailbox right around Election Day.
What have you got to lose? It’s free, it’s fun. Go out to the auction website right now (http://charityauction.bid/uucm2020) and register to attend and participate. And while you’re there, take a look at the amazing items that have been donated to the silent auction. See you on November 7th at 6:30!
The UUCM Auction is held each year to create a fun community-building event for our members and friends, and to raise money for the UUCM General Fund. The Auction has grown to be one of the most anticipated events on the UUCM Social Calendar and our largest fundraiser. Last year we raised over $24,000.
Although our traditional evening of silent and live auctions at the church is not possible this year, the auction will still happen! The 2020 edition of the Annual UUCM Auction will have two parts. An online silent auction will run from October 30 through November 8. A live auction will be held via Zoom on Saturday evening, November 7th, at 6:30pm.
We hope you will participate in the auction fun. Put the dates on your calendar and plan to engage in both the online silent auction and the live auction event. And since the auction cannot happen without donations, please consider donating an item, event, or experience.
