UU the Vote Update

NEW: Now is the time to finish up those postcards for UU the Vote! Mike Elliot would greatly appreciate it if you could get them done by this Sunday, September 8. That will give us time to get them in the mail before Tuesday, September 17, which is National Voter Registration Day. Early voting in Minnesota begins on Friday, September 20. The Minnesota Secretary of State’s website has great information on voting.

Mike will be at UUCM this Sunday to collect postcards. He’ll also have a box available for you to drop off your packet in the Community Room. Look for the UU THE VOTE sign. 50 congregants participated in signing 5,910 postcards so far! Many of you did numerous packets. Thanks everyone for encouraging others to use their vote in creating a more just world!

Beacon Housing Vista 44 Celebration!

Join us in celebrating Beacon’s creation of 50 new homes for families in Hopkins! The Grand Opening celebration for Vista 44 is on Sept 12 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. It’s a family friendly event and refreshments will  be served. New North Wall Artist

An ethos of minimal waste permeates the entire creative process of our new North Wall Art, Erik Jon Olson. Using quilted plastic waste as his medium, Olson creates works that deal with the effects of consumerism, mass consumption and unfettered capitalism. By layering environmental issues with social justice messaging, his art emphasizes our alienation from the environment and each other. Erik will be here at UUCM next Sunday, September 15 for a “meet and greet”. He’s eager to share his message and methods with us.
