Beacon Donations Needed

Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative  just opened its latest supportive housing building in Minneapolis, Bimosedaa, which is Ojibwe for “Let’s walk together.” The new  residents are in need of many items to get started in their new homes, including extra long twin sheets and comforters, cleaning items (mops, toilet cleaners/plungers, spray disinfectants, etc.) and kitchen items (pans, cooking utensils, etc.) The Housing Justice team is collecting donations to send over to Bimosedaa. Please drop off items to donate by the table in the corner of the community room at UUCM. More information on the development is available here

North Wall Artist Featured in Local Media

UUCM’s North Wall Art Display and our newest artist, Anne Landreman, were just featured on Wayzata.com. The article highlights both Anne’s beautiful pieces and UUCM’s history of supporting local artists and musicians. Anne’s work portrays the energy of nature and the dependence and interdependence of each natural element and their delicate connections, in images both simple and complex. Anne’s watercolor and acrylic pieces will be on display through March.

Help Us Fund UUCM’s Future!

Interested in learning about non-profit fundraising?  Or do you have experience in fundraising and want to use it to help UUCM?  Retaining our excellent staff, supporting our strong programming, and operating our building requires money; and we rely on gifts from our members and friends for nearly all of our income. Our annual Stewardship fundraising campaign is coming up in April, and we are looking for volunteers to help with communication, event planning, and outreach. The time commitment is flexible. If you would like to be a part of this important effort, please contact Fred Hulting.

College Care Package Deadline Extended

You have more time to drop off a donation for our college care packages! RE classes are collecting small items for about a dozen UUCM young adults who are off to college and other adventures near and far. All will appreciate small, light-weight tokens of our affection and messages of encouragement. Think cards, sweets, gift cards, etc. Use your imagination and bring items to the donation box in the Community Room by February 11. Cash donations are also welcome.
