Holiday Gift Donation

Avenues for Youth offers shelter for young people and families during times of crisis and UUCM has been proud to support their work. This year, the Housing Social Justice team is helping them provide holiday gifts for a young mother and her 7-year-old son. Please consider checking the green paper tree in the community room to find out what you might purchase for this family to make their holidays happy! Unwrapped gifts must be in by December 13. You may also donate money so we can purchase gifts if you choose. Make the check out to UUCM and indicate it’s for the the Avenues gift program.

12/10: Why We Cannot Turn Away: Engaging with Palestine & Israel

Join the Racial Justice Team after the service on Sunday, December 10 for a presentation and discussion about the history and the humanity of the current crisis in Palestine and Israel. There will also be an opportunity write letters to legislators asking them to support an immediate ceasefire and a just peace. If you are interested in learning more about how the UUA has engaged on this issue in the past or are looking for support in this time of collective fear and grief, you may also be interested in viewing a recent presentation from the UUA.

Last month, the UUA issued a statement on the ongoing humanitarian crisis and called for a ceasefire. Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism also issued a statement calling for a ceasefire and an end to the occupation. If you’re looking for more resources to learn about what’s happening now in Israel and Palestine and the history behind it, please consider checking out the resources linked below from the virtual Beloved Conversations group.

Church Staff Holiday Gift

As we approach the holidays, the Board is continuing the tradition of making a year-end gift to our staff in recognition of all of their wonderful work this past year – especially given the challenges of maintaining our hybrid worship. We welcome your check and credit card donations by Thursday, December 21 to support the gift.

To donate with a credit card, please visit http://bit.ly/giveuucm and use the Special Donation Campaigns line and enter “Staff Gift” in the text box.  Or you can write a check to UUCM with “Staff Gift” in the memo – drop checks off in the secure black box outside the office, or mail it to “Staff Gift for UUCM, 2030 Wayzata Blvd East, Wayzata, MN 55391.”  Please email Janna Sundby, Board President at jannasperry@gmail.com with any questions. Thank you!
