Gertens Youth Fundraiser Plant Pick Up

Thank you to everyone who ordered from Gertens and supported our youth’s Appalachia Service Project trip this summer! All outdoor items (wreaths, garlands, planters, etc.) will be available for pick up Tuesday, November  26 between 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. For those of you who ordered indoor plants (poinsettias, succulents, etc.), we are hoping they can grace UUCM’s sanctuary until December 8 at 11 a.m. If you’d rather pick them up on November 26, that is perfectly fine as well. Our wonderful youth,
who you helped support with this order, will be more than happy to gather your items after the Holiday Pageant on December 8. Thank you for brightening our sanctuary, and for supporting our youth’s Appalachia Service Project trip this summer! Email Karen Heuiser with questions.

UUCM Midweek Message & Mapping Memory Event Reminder

Today is the last day of Transgender Awareness Week. This week’s Midweek Message comes to us from the UUA ahead of Transgender Remembrance Day tomorrow. The UUA offers a silent moment to remember trans people who have lost their lives in the last year followed by a heartfelt message of love, resilience, and affirmation. May this message bring comfort, strength, and hope. You are sacred. You are loved.

Transgender and nonbinary people seeking support and resources can visit UPLIFT at www.uua.org/lgbtq/transnb to find guidance, affirmation, and tools for connection.

As we grow older, it becomes essential to recognize the distinction between normal and abnormal changes occurring in the brain, which helps us determine the appropriate response. In this presentation, Kelly discusses typical age-related changes and identifies the warning signs of abnormal changes. She’ll also examine the differences between memory loss, dementia, and brain diseases like Alzheimer’s.
