From the Board: September 2022

Each month, a member of the board will share a reflection on the Soul Matters monthly theme. The theme for September is Belonging. This month’s post is offered by Board President, Becky Halat.

As the summer wraps up and a new church year starts, we’ll see more friends and members back at the church or on Zoom services. And even though I write that phrase “as the summer wraps up” with an intense feeling of longing to extend these longer days and the warmth of the sun that turn my tomatoes from a dull green to a bright and delicious red, I also relish the renewed sense of belonging that comes from meeting together as our UUCM community. Invitation: UUCM Tech Team

It is time for another year of hybrid worship at UUCM! To help us continue to produce high-quality worship across multiple platforms, we would love to have you join our wonderful tech team. You can join with no previous experience or knowledge and be trained to fill any of the 4 roles required to make Sunday morning happen – sound, video, Zoom and online phone support. Anyone who is interested can watch these training videos to learn more and/or reach out to Paul at musicdirector@uucmtka.org. Thanks!

The 2022 UUCM Auction: Come join us for a Sock Hop!

UUCM2022AuctionThe UUCM Auction is held each year to create a fun community-building event for our members and friends, and to raise money for the UUCM General Fund. The Auction has grown to be one of the most anticipated events on the UUCM Social Calendar and our largest fundraiser. After two years of all-virtual auctions, the 2022 event will return to the church building on Saturday November 5th with an in-person live and silent auction. The live auction will also be open to Zoom participants, and we will continue with the popular online bidding from Friday October 28th to Sunday November 6th.

The auction website may be found at https://charityauction.bid/uucm2022. This year’s theme is “Sock Hop!”  Our school-dance inspired theme is a celebration of our new DFM and Ministerial Intern, and their role in teaching our children, and helping UUCM to be a teaching congregation.

We hope you will participate in the auction fun. Put the dates on your calendar and plan to engage in the online and in-person events.. And since the auction cannot happen without donations, please consider donating an item, event, or experience.  To make a donation, please use the form at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/uucmauction2022 by Midnight on Monday, October 24th.  You can find ideas for donations by browsing these past catalogs.

We look forward to your participation in the auction.  If you have any questions, please contact Fred Hulting (fhulting@gmail.com) or Karen Hulting (khulting@comcast.net).
