Plant List: UUCM Native Plant Gardens

Thank you everyone for your support in putting together my Eagle Scout project, the UUCM Native Plant Gardens. This project was successful because of the support I received from the congregation. I am happy with how it turned out and hope you will be to. This is the link to the list of plants that went into the garden. We are hoping to have kids and adults alike be able to identify the plants in the plants garden with this list. The goal is to learn more about the connection between the plants and the pollinators that rely on them.

Thank you,
Erik Williams-Heim

UUCM Mid-Week Message 5/18/22

In this week’s message, Rev. Lisa reflects on the importance of connecting to beauty and how the Navajo philosophy of Hózhó has expanded her understanding of it. This week’s video was recorded at Deming Heights Park in Minneapolis, which has also been called Grandview Park or Norwegian Hill in the past. Located on stolen land from the Dakota people just a few miles North of the sacred site of the Owámniyomni, or ‘St. Anthony Falls,’ Rev. Lisa is still searching for its Indigenous history and name.

Beacon Housing Update

Rev Lisa CapitolApril’s Bring it Home, MN Rally: Beacon and their interfaith partners – of which UUCM is one – had over 100 leaders in person, 40 on Zoom, and 23 legislators attend this great action. They even signed a letter which was delivered to Governor Walz! Rev. Lisa (pictured center) also attended a gathering to support funding for important Housing Infrastructure Bonds. Learn about these initiatives and more in Beacon’s May newsletter.
