Social Generosity Offering: April 2020
April’s offering will support the Minister’s Discretionary Fund at UUCM. The Minister’s Discretionary Fund is a fund that the ministers of the church use to support members of our community who encounter financial hardship and need assistance. Sometimes a little assistance with a bill or car repair can go a long way. If you’re feeling stressed about finances, you are encouraged to reach out to the ministers to see if and how they can help. If in doubt, give them a call. True community is about giving when we can, and also getting help when we need it. Your faith community is here for you.
How to Donate: You can donate online using PayPal or a credit card at bit.ly/uucmsocialgen. You may also mail a contribution to UUCM at 2030 Wayzata Blvd E, Wayzata MN 55391. Simply make your check out to “UUCM” with “Social Generosity” in the memo line.
Social Generosity Offering: March 2020
Our MARCH Social Generosity Offering will go to the MN Food Share and IOCP’s Prevent Hunger March Campaign. Nearly half of those who come to Interfaith Outreach for the first time need food. With the help of this generous community, IOCP distributed 1 million pounds of food and household essentials last year. Interfaith Outreach also works holistically to prevent future hunger through employment and family support services.
3/24/20 Update: The church members’ donations of more than 100 pounds of food were taken to their food shelf this week and they were very grateful. You may continue to donate financially to their good work by clicking here. Your donation will be compounded nine-fold. Second Harvest Heartland contributes $9 worth of food for every $1 donated by the community. Visit iocp.org/donations/prevent-hunger/ to learn more.

Homelessness and Housing Selected as UUCM’s Social Justice Focus
The UUCM Social Justice Ministry Team is excited to announce that Homelessness and Housing will be our congregational focus for the year. We spent a good deal of time discerning the many issues that call us and the purpose of congregational-based social justice work. We believe having one primary focus area will help UUCM increase our community connections and have a measurable impact on an issue.
Affordable housing is a crisis not just in the city core, but even more in the suburbs. Work around this issue is deeply grounded at UUCM through our long partnership with IOCP (Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners); our youth’s commitment through their participation in the Sleep Out for the Homeless program, food drives, and summer mission trips; and how this issue directly connects with UUCM’s mission and ends.
